Just as Morty and his new love interest Annie are about to escape they are menaced by a monstrous creature representing hepatitis A. In this Christmas themed episode, Rick shrinks Morty down to microscopic size and injects him into the body of a homeless man, Rubin, wherein he has built a theme park called "Anatomy Park." Rubin dies and his diseases end up breaking loose and chasing after Morty and his companions.

Unfortunately, Snuffles becomes too smart and figures out how to exponentially increase his intelligence to the point where he is leading an army of cyber-enhanced dogs in an uprising against the human race. In the episode's B-plot, which is a parody of the movie "Lawnmower Man," Rick uses a device to enhance the intelligence of the family dog, Snuffles, after Jerry complains about the dog being stupid. Scary Terry, who Rick describes as a "legally-safe knockoff of an '80s horror character with miniature swords for fingers instead of knives," also parodies Freddy Krueger from "A Nightmare on Elm Street." Scary Terry initially menaces Rick and Morty, but they eventually manage to befriend him by incepting into one of his dreams and helping him resolve an embarrassing situation of finding himself in high school wearing no pants and being unable to answer the teacher's questions (aptly enough about the "Fundamentals of Fear").

At least he now has a hobby that’s useful rather than having the wind howl around him and tell him that he’s a loser.This episode's A-plot parodied the movie "Inception," as Rick and Morty move through a series of dreamscapes. The bee keeping scene this week was a great development for Jerry. So maybe in a future season, we’ll see an episode ending with Morty having the upperhand over Rick.īut even if that happens, we’ll probably still have funny Jerry moments in the after credits scene. We’ve seen from Evil Morty that Morty certainly has the ability to be intelligent and cunning enough to outwit Rick. Mentors are supposed to raise up their proteges to be even better than they are. Maybe eventually Morty will even surpass Rick.
I guess if you want to get really philosophical, you might think of this as meaning that Morty is maturing and slowly getting closer to being Rick’s equal in many ways.
